Haylie Wagoner, PLPC

About Me

I am Haylie, born and raised in Prairieville. My journey in supporting others began early helping my mom in her preschool classroom and later working as a daycare teacher and nanny. These formative experiences deepened my love for working with kids and adolescents and laid the foundation for my career in counseling.  Outside of the therapy room, you can usually find me playing video games, spending time with my three dogs (Allie, Fanny, and Oliver), or enjoying quality time with loved ones.

My Approach

I believe that therapy should be a space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued just as they are. My work is grounded in Person-Centered, Relational, Adlerian, Family Systems, and Multicultural theories, and I draw on a range of tools to meet each client’s unique needs. I am especially passionate about play therapy and its ability to help children express themselves and process emotions through creativity, movement, and connection. I strive to create a warm, affirming space—particularly for individuals navigating anxiety, depression, building self-esteem, identity exploration, grief, and life transitions. I also have experience working with the LGBTQIA+ community and am committed to creating inclusive, supportive care for everyone!

My Specialties

I work with children (ages 7+), adolescents, and adults. I have experience and additional training in  the following areas:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • LGBTQIA+ Experiences
  • Play Therapy
  • Self-Esteem/Identity Development
  • Life Transitions
  • Family Dynamics

My Education

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Human Sciences and my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southeastern Louisiana University. I am now pursuing my Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of Holy Cross New Orleans.

  • Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) #10706
  • National Certified Counselor (NCC) License #1738132
  • Brainspotting Phase 1 and Phase 2

I graduated summa cum laude and was active in several honors organizations, including the Thirteen Club and the Research Incubator for Psychology Students, making the President's list every semester. I was honored to be nominated by my department for the Outstanding Graduate Student of the Year Award in 2023. I have presented research on early intervention for autism, play therapy, grief within family systems, and preventative mental health care for children at regional and national conferences.
