Hey, I’m John! I grew up in Louisiana, lived in a few different states, and eventually made Baton Rouge home. I love spending time with my family exploring—whether it is traveling to new cities, trying different foods, going outdoors, or attending festivals. I am a lover of sports and served in the Louisiana Army National Guard. I found my way to counseling through the professional roles I had working with people in various settings - higher education, education, disability services, substance use, sports officiating and in the airline industry. These experiences helped me identify my innate empathy and patience, each contributing to shaping me into the genuine counselor I am today.
I believe you, the client, know yourself better than anyone else, and I’m here to walk alongside you as you navigate your journey. I value building a trusting therapeutic relationship that fosters empathy, respect, and authenticity. Utilizing Person-Centered, evidenced based approaches, I collaborate with you to explore your strengths and unique path toward growth, peace, and wellness—even if you're not quite sure what that looks like yet. I bring my authentic self to each session, offering a non-judgmental and supportive environment.
I work with adolescents (ages 14 and up) and adults. I also offer relationship counseling. I have experience and additional training in the following areas:
I hold a Bachelor of General Studies from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a Master’s Degree in Counselor Education from Virginia Tech.
