Brodi Bourque, Intern

About Me

I grew up in Colorado and moved to Louisiana at age 12, where family has always been an important part of my life. I share my home with my 13-year-old black lab, Nola, who keeps me active and grounded. Outside of counseling, I enjoy reading, journaling, spending time in nature, and exploring local coffee shops, libraries, and museums. I’ve also worked at LSU for the past three years, which has been a meaningful part of my professional journey.

I was drawn to psychology at a young age out of a curiosity about people and their stories. I value creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and able to move forward at their own pace.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and client-centered. I focus on creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel understood and respected. I draw from person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based strategies, and trauma-informed care to help clients build insight and practical coping skills. Sessions often include emotional awareness, grounding techniques, and psychoeducation to support daily life.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in university, private practice, and telehealth settings. I tailor therapy to each client’s strengths, goals, and needs, with an emphasis on building resilience and creating meaningful change at a pace that feels comfortable.

My Specialties

I enjoy working with adolescents ages twelve and up, young adults, and adults navigating anxiety, stress, grief, identity development, and major life transitions. I am especially passionate about supporting clients who feel overwhelmed or uncertain about their next steps and want to build confidence and balance in daily life.

I have experience in the following areas:

  • Anxiety & Stress
  • Depression
  • Grief & Loss
  • Identity development
  • Relationship & Interpersonal Concerns

My Education

I earned my Associate of Humanities from River Parishes Community College and my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Louisiana State University. I am currently pursuing my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at LSU and plan to graduate in May 2026.

My training includes trauma informed care, Safe Space training, psychological first aid, the science of body language, and CITI certification in human subjects research. I have participated in research and academic projects focused on anxiety, grief, coping, and meaning making, and I plan to pursue a doctoral degree in the future.

I am currently a member of the following professional organizations:

    •  American Counseling Association
   • American Psychological Association
    • Chi Sigma Iota Honor Society
