Carlie Dowell, LMSW

About Me

I grew up on the Northshore and now call Ponchatoula home—though my heart absolutely lives in Baton Rouge… specifically in Tiger Stadium. I love spending time with my family, friends, and my beloved dog, Chubbs. When I’m off the clock, you’ll usually find me watching reality TV (Dancing with the Stars is my favorite), strolling through HomeGoods, or cheering loudly for the LSU Tigers. I’ve always had a natural pull toward helping others, and becoming a therapist has allowed me to turn that passion into a career where I get to support and empower clients through every high and low life brings.

My Approach

My goal is to create a warm, supportive space where clients feel safe to grow, explore, and build resilience that lasts into adulthood. I meet clients exactly where they are, using a non-judgmental and collaborative style. I incorporate CBT, DBT, and Crisis Intervention to help clients understand and rework unhelpful thinking patterns, build coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change. Above all, I tailor each session to what feels most helpful and relevant for the client sitting with me.

My Specialties

I am passionate about working with children (ages 7+) and young adults navigating the challenges and transitions of growing up. I specialize in supporting clients' experiencing:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Grief and loss
  • Self-esteem concerns
  • Life transitions

Whether someone is learning to manage big emotions, adjusting to new life changes, or simply trying to understand themselves better, I’m here to walk alongside them with empathy, encouragement, and unwavering support.

My Education

I received my Bachelor and Master's degree in Social Work from Louisiana State University.   I am currently studying to sit for my LCSW board exam in the spring of 2026.

  • Licensed Master's of Social Work (LMSW) #18000
