Hi, I’m Jen! My pronouns are she/they. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist (CAGCS) and a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-275). I am honored to work with clients through their journey of authentic self-discovery. In my free time, I enjoy adventures, practicing yoga, riding my bike, tending to my garden, and looking for birds and butterflies while spending time outdoors with my dog, Levi.
I know that beginning the therapy process can feel overwhelming. If you feel like we may be a good fit I encourage you to reach out whenever you feel that you are ready.
I support clients in working through stuck emotional patterns and nervous system overwhelm. I utilize an existential approach to therapy that incorporates mindfulness based practices, somatic awareness and focuses on your individual needs and goals for therapy. As a lifelong animal lover I am passionate about working with veterinary medicine professionals, understanding the unique stressors, and emotional challenges faced by those in helping and high-intensity professions. My practice is non-judgmental, trauma-informed, and collaborative in an effort to cultivate trust, safety, and respect. I value all dimensions of human diversity and I am an accomplice within the LGBTQAI+ community.
I work with adults and adolescents (ages 14 and older) individually and in group therapy. I also offer relationship therapy. I have experience and additional training in the following areas:
I enjoy and value the opportunity to engage with other professionals through consultation, continued education events and presenting at conferences. If you're interested in consultation or an upcoming speaking event, I’d love to connect! This year I facilitated a CEU event: Navigating Grief: Ethics, Trauma-Informed Care, and Evidence-Based Interventions. I’ve also had the honor of presenting at the Louisiana Counseling Association Conference (2020, 2021, 2023) and the Holy Cross Ethics Conference (2021, 2022). Topics have included Honoring Queer Grief and Joy through Somatic Practices, Social Media and Grief, Applying Ethics and Reducing Risk in Trauma Treatment, Uncovering Bias, and The Effect of COVID-19 on Grief Experiences.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Missouri- Kansas City and a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southeastern Louisiana University.
