Accepting New Clients -January 2026

Julie Dietz, PLPC

About Me

I grew up in Twinsburg, Ohio—famous for hosting the annual Twins Days Festival! My journey has taken me across the country, beginning with college in Saratoga Springs, New York, followed by several years in Los Angeles pursuing work in film, TV, and theater. In 2014, I moved to New Orleans during the height of Louisiana’s film boom, and later relocated to Baton Rouge in 2021 after the pandemic halted my work in theater and restaurants.

That shift led me to LSU, where I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I chose to make Baton Rouge my home because I fell in love with the city and with my husband, Jordan. Outside of work, you can usually find me laughing through improv comedy, sharing good food with the people I love, enjoying the outdoors, or hanging out with my incredibly chatty tuxedo cat, Maxine.

My Approach

My therapeutic style is rooted in being both client-centered and relationship-focused. I believe that meaningful change happens when clients feel genuinely seen, supported, and understood. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and psychodynamic principles, tailoring each session to the needs and goals of the individual.

My clinical experience includes working with female and non-binary adolescents (ages 14–18) in a residential treatment setting, as well as supporting college-aged clients at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. My goal is always to create a safe, collaborative space where clients can explore who they are and who they want to become.

My Specialties

I am passionate about helping clients navigate life transitions, especially the shift from high school to college or early adulthood. I enjoy supporting motivated teens and young adults exploring identity, education, and career paths, particularly those forging their own direction separate from family expectations.  I have experience and additional training in the following areas:

  • Anxiety
  • Trauma
  • Depression
  • Identity Development
  • LGBTQIA+

My Education

I have a bachelor's degree in Theatre & Spanish from Skidmore College and a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Louisiana State University.

I recently completed training in Prolonged Exposure Therapy for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.
